My dad remembers Grandma Weeks making this ice cream in the 1920s. The flavor is light and subtle. Making this ice cream on the 4th of July is an old tradition in our family. I use my Oster Quick Freeze Ice Cream Maker.
Directions:
1
Blend first 3 ingredients.
2
Stir in Sugar.
3
Add half and half and milk and mix well.
4
Put in ice cream freezer, follow freezer directions.
Ratings & Reviews:
I love looking for older recipes. This one was wonderful. It tastes a lot like a fruit sherbet type ice cream. Not a bite left over.

We always made this when I was a little girl. There is nothing like this ice cream! I'd give it a hundred stars if I could.
The only thing I would add is a pinch of salt, because everything sweet needs a pinch of salt!

This is one of my favorites growing up, although it was called 4H Ice Cream. I recall spending summers with my grandmother and we always had to make this ice cream. It's light and fruity taste makes it a great summer treat. Thanks for posting!
