This hit the spot!!! Haven't had this in years. I used buns as you suggested which I have never tried before. This is quick and easy to make. Thank you for sharing this. :-)

I used this recipe and it was delicious and just as I remember my Mom's used to be. She's gone now but, I try to replicate her cooking for good memories of her. This recipe is so easy and comes together fast. I just added raisins and they were great! I plan on adding other fruits like apples, pears, berries, etc. in the future. I'm thinking even instead of the suger, using some maple syrup and putting small pieces of bacon pre-cooked in for a sweet and savory breakfast pudding.

My DH makes bread regularly in the bread machine. There are always some trimmings, so we save them in quart-size ziploc bags, and if we have 2 bags full I double the recipe. It's a crowdpleaser at potlucks, meetings, and rehearsals. You can use any kind of bread, roll, cake, muffin, or cookie to make bread pudding. If it's something sweet, just reduce the sugar in the recipe accordingly. I've 'saved' a couple of bad (or stale) batches of quick breads by adding them to the mix. Raisins or chocolate chips are good too, or you can substitute mashed banana for part of the milk. BTW, I use vanilla instead of cinnamon for the added flavor. It seems to be a better complement to whatever else I throw in.

this was great! i made it for my bf who is not too fond of overly sweet things and we polished it off at one sitting. i changed it a bit by using a day old baguette and finely dicing up a green apple. just the right balance of sweetness. thanks!
