      place bread cubes in a 1-1/2 qt casserole dish.

      Mix together remaining ingredients and pour over bread.

      Bake@ 350 for 40-45 minutes.

      This hit the spot!!! Haven't had this in years. I used buns as you suggested which I have never tried before. This is quick and easy to make. Thank you for sharing this. :-)

      I used this recipe and it was delicious and just as I remember my Mom's used to be. She's gone now but, I try to replicate her cooking for good memories of her. This recipe is so easy and comes together fast. I just added raisins and they were great! I plan on adding other fruits like apples, pears, berries, etc. in the future. I'm thinking even instead of the suger, using some maple syrup and putting small pieces of bacon pre-cooked in for a sweet and savory breakfast pudding.
