Cheater's Bananas Foster

"This is a tasty non-alcoholic version of Bananas Foster that I encountered while at college and have adapted for when I want Bananas Foster but have no alcohol to make it with."

• Ingredients: 5
• Yields: 2 bowls of bananas foster
• Serves: 2

ingredients

• 1 tablespoon butter
• 2 tablespoons brown sugar
• 1 banana
• 4 scoops vanilla ice cream
• whipping cream (optional)

directions

1. Slice up a banana into quarter inch slices.
2. Then melt butter and brown sugar in a frying pan, making sure to stir as you do so.
3. After a minute or so, add the sliced banana and stir to make sure the banana gets coated in the sauce.
4. Let the banana fry, while you quickly scoop out ice cream into two bowls.
5. Pour topping over ice cream and if desired garnish with whipped cream.
6. Immediately serve.

This was great! But I had to double the sauce for each serving...probably cuz my menfolk had huge servings!

Fabulous! I did not have any plain vanilla ice cream - was debating between caramel cookie crunch gelato or salty caramel gelato. Decided to go with the cookie crunch and it was awesome with the bananas and caramel sauce. Thanks for an awesome and simple dessert!

My DH absolutely loved this dish. He is a banana lover and this was perfect for him. We did not make the whipped cream as the combination of the bananas and the ice cream was decadent enough. I'm sure I'll be making this again in the near future now that DH has discovered this wonderful dessert. Made for Fall PAC, 2012.
